Ravenna Cosmography

• The Ravenna Cosmography is a List of Place Names located across the Roman Empire from Ireland as far as India.
• It was compiled in Ravenna by a clergyman around 700 CE who appears to have used maps dating from c. 400 CE as the source for his listing.

• There are three existing medieval copies that have survived, they are housed in:
  1.  Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris (a 13th century document )
  2.  Vatican Library, Rome. (a 14th century document)
  3.  Library of Basle University, Basle. (a 14th century document)
