Rheims

  • Rheims, also spelt Reims, is a city located on the river Vesle in the Grand Est Region of Northeastern France. It is noted for its Gothic Cathedral where 29 Kings of France were crowned between 1027 and 1825 CE.
  • It was the Roman town of ‘Durocortorum’, Capital of the Remi Tribe in the Province of Gallia Belgica.

    • The underground passageway underneath the Forum.
  • Rheims Gallo-Roman Chalk Tunnels
    • Located under Rheims and now used as the ‘Caves’ for the making and storing of Champagne.

Museums

  • Saint-Remi Museum
    • Located at Basilique of Saint-Remi, 53 Rue Simon, Rheims.
    • This is the Art and Archeology Museum of Rheims which was previously the Abbey of St. Remi.
