Roman Scorpio

• The Roman Scorpio was a dart thrower used as an Artillery Piece by the Roman Army.
• It was used during the Roman Republic and Early Empire, and preceded the Cheiroballistra.

How the Legion used the Scorpio

• There were 59 in every Legion, one per Centuria.
• Usually all 59 were grouped together on a hilltop, surrounded by the Legion, so that they could concentrate their firepower at the enemy shields below.
