• Rue Saint-Jacques was the Cardo Maximus of Roman Paris.

The Route

• The road crossed over the river Seine via the island of Lutecia on a wooden Roman Bridge where Le Petit Pont stands today.
• The road then proceeded south, running through today’s Latin quarter.
• It then divided below the Roman Forum.
  • One road went southwest to Orleans and Bordeaux.
  • The other road went west to Rennes and Brest.
