Saint Mark’s Basilica

  • Saint Mark’s Basilica is the Cathedral Church of the Archdiocese of Venice in Italy.
  • The Basilica was consecrated in c. 1093 CE.

Notable Artefacts

  • The Basilica contains some relics taken during the Fourth Crusade in 1204 CE, from the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople.
    • The Porphyry Statue of the Four Tetrarchs
      • This was taken from Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade (1204 CE).
    • The Quadriga of the Horses of St. Mark
      • This was taken during the Seventh Crusade (1248-1254 CE) and installed in 1254 CE.
