- The Septizodium was a Water Fountain built in Rome by Septimius Severus in 203 CE.
- It consisted of a three storey high structure, with three Bays of Statues and Fountains which gave on to a reservoir.

Description
- Septizodium was latin for the ‘Temple of the Seven Suns’.
- It was located on the Via Appia, where it leads to the Palatine.
- It was possibly built in imitation of a similar Septizodium which existed in Carthage.
- It was dismantled in 1588 CE, and the stones used to create the base for the Flaminio Obelisk in the Piazza del Populo.
- The Septizodium is now only a floor plan in a garden. It’s purpose is unknown. Other Septizodia existed in Roman Africa, Septimius Severus‘ country of origin.
