Skye

  • The Isle of Skye is the largest island in the Inner Hebrides. It is separated from the west coast of Scotland by a sea inlet called Loch Alsh which has a narrow strait which connects south to the Sound of Sleat.
  • It was known as Scetis to the Romans. In 1266 CE, the Treaty of Perth transferred sovereignty from Norway to Scotland. Since then it has been closely associated with the Highland Scottish Clans of MacLeod and MacDonald.
