Soli

  • The Ruins of Soli are located on the Gulf of Morphou, near the modern town of Morphou in the Turkish controlled area of Northern Cyprus.
  • It was a Greek and Roman port city in the Roman Province of Cyprus.

Greek and Roman Sites

  • Basilica (c.350 BCE)
    • It holds a famous Roman Mosaic depicting animals, birds and the Soli swan.
  • Roman Theatre
    • This has been completely restored.
  • Ruins of a Palace, Temples of Isis and Aphrodite, the Agora and Necropolis.
    • These are not yet accessible to the Public.

Museums

  • Morphou Museum of Archeology and Nature
    • Located in the nearby town of Morphou.
    • The Museum holds the Finds from Soli, including rare artefacts from two recently discovered tombs.
