Stupa

• A Stupa is a Buddhist Temple found in Sri Lanka.
• They are built of brick with a distinctive hemispherical Dome topped by a spire and were designed to withstand earthquakes.

The Great Stupa of Ruwanwelisaya (c. 140 BCE)

• The Great Stupa of Ruwanwelisaya in the city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, which contains a Relic of Gautama Buddha, built c. 140 BCE.
• The original Stupa had a height of 180 ft (55m), although the current restored Stupa is now 338 ft (103m) tall.
