History
- The Roman town of Durocomovium was located in the village of Wanborough, to the east of Swindon.
- Swindon itself was on the junction of Ermin Street and another Roman road.

- An excavation in 1996 uncovered several Roman buildings including a hypocaust. The site is now owned by Swindon Borough Council and English Heritage.
- Roman burial grounds have been excavated in the village of Purton
