- The Amazons perpetuated their Tribe once a year by visiting the all male tribe of the Gargareans.
- Any daughters produced were kept by the Amazons, any sons were given to the Gargareans.
Twelve Labours of Hercules
- The ninth Labour of Hercules was to capture the Girdle of the Amazon Queen, Hippolyta.
- Queen Hippolyta wore a Girdle as a symbol of her authority, given to her by Ares her father.
- In another version of the myth, he was assisted by Theseus.
