Tin Road

  • Tin travelled from Britain and Brittany using the rivers Seine, Loire and Rhone to get to the Mediterranean.
  • Tin also used the same route as the Amber Road from the Baltic to the Mediterranean. Both Tin and Amber travelled along the same road.

Tin from Britannia and Brittany

  • Tin from Britannia and Brittany travelled down the R. Seine and the R. Loire to reach the R. Rhone and the Mediterranean.
  • Before the Roman Conquest of Gaul, the Tin Trade had been controlled by the Veneti who held the Tin mines of Brittany.

Amber Road

  • The Amber Road was the route used to transport Amber from the Baltic Coast, through the Lands of the German Tribes into neighbouring countries such as Holland, France, Italy and Spain.
  • Tin also travelled down the same road.
