- Trimontium was a Roman Auxiliary Fort located at Newstead near Melrose in the Scottish Borders Council Area of Scotland.
- It was on Dere Street between Hadrian's Wall and the Antonine Wall. No Remains are visible today.
History
- A Roman Auxiliary Cavalry Unit was based at Trimontium.
- They were called the ‘Ala Augustae Vocontiorum’, and came from the Voconti Tribe at Vaison-La-Romaine in Gallia Narbonensis.
- They were possibly moved from Germania Inferior to Britannia when Hadrian visited Britain in 122 CE.
