- Usk is a town overlooking the river Usk in Monmouthshire in Wales. Usk Castle guarded the river crossing.
- It was Roman Burrium, a Posting station on the Iter XIII of the Antonine Itinerary.
History
- It was originally built as a Legionary Fortress by the Legio XX Valeria Victrix, after they left Gloucester, but it was abandoned around 75 CE, when the Legio II Augusta built a new Fortress down river at Caerleon.
- The outline of the Fortress is marked by plaques set in the pavements.
- Finds from the Roman Fortress are displayed in the National Roman Legion Museum at Caerleon.
