- Vaison-La-Romaine is a cathedral town located on the river Ouveze in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur Region of southeastern France.
- It was the Roman town of Vasio Julia Vocontiorum, the capital of the Voconti Gallic tribe, in the Province of Gallia Narbonensis.
- Vasio Vocontiorum developed below the old tribal Oppidum during the 1st century CE, with the construction of Villas, a Theatre, two Aqueducts, Baths and a Bridge.
- The Roman town was one of the richest cities in the Province.
