Valentia

• Valentia was a fifth Roman Province in Late Roman Britannia between 369-c.408 CE.
• It is mentioned in the Ravenna Cosmography (c. 400).

 History

• A Fifth Consular Province was set up after The Great Conspiracy (367-8 CE), by Count Theodosius, and possibly named after the ruling Emperor, Valentinian I.
• Its capital was at Carlisle (Luguvalium Carvetiorum).
• Its Territory is uncertain, but may have been the area between Hadrian's Wall and the Antonine Wall.
