Via Porphyritis

• The Via Phorphyritis was a Roman Road in Egypt which ran 70 miles (112km) from the quarry at the  Porphyry Mountain to Maximianopolis on the Nile.
• Along the route were fortified watering holes called Hydreumata.

• Via Hadriana
  • This was completed by Hadrian in 137 CE and ran from Antinopolis on the Nile to the Red Sea port of Berenice using Hydreumata.
• Coptos to Berenice Roman Road
  • The more ancient road that ran from Coptos on the Nile to Berenice.
• Coptos to Myos Hormos Roman Road
  • This was another road from Coptos that connected with the Red Sea Port of Myos Hormos.
