- Wellington Arch, previously known as Constitution Arch, is located on Hyde Park Corner in central London.
- It was originally modelled in the Neoclassical style on the Arch of Titus in Rome, but then redesigned in a more splendid style, and completed in 1830 CE.
Quadriga
- Originally, the Arch was topped by a giant statue of the Duke of Wellington, but this was replaced in 1912 by a bronze Quadriga bearing Nike, the Greek Goddess of victory. holding a Laurel Wreath,
- The sculpture was done by Captain Adrian Jones. who is said to have based Nike on an artist’s model called Beatrice Stewart. and the boy charioteer driving the quadriga. on the ten year old son of Lord Michelham, who funded the sculpture.
