Yerevan

  • Yerevan is the capital city of modern Armenia.
  • It is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities dating back to c. 3,500 BCE.

History

  • Yerevan is situated on the Hrazdan River, 14 miles (23 km) from the Turkish frontier.
  • During the Greek and Roman period, it was a fortress located (3,337 ft (1,017 m) above sea level, known as Erebuni.
  • It was located in the Roman Client Kingdom of Armenia.
