- Osijek is a city on the river Drava in the Osijek-Baranja County in Croatia.
- It was the Roman city of Mursa was located in the Province of Pannonia Inferior. Mursa was the Base for the Roman Fleet on the Upper Danube, the Classis Pannonica.
History
- Classis Pannonica
- The Pannonian Fleet operated west of the Kazan Gorge or Iron Gates to Regensburg. The Fleet may have its origins in 35 BCE, but is confirmed from 45 CE onwards.
- Battle of Mursa Major (351 CE)
- The Battle of Mursa Major (Osijek) (28th Sept 351 CE) was one of the bloodiest battles in a Civil War between Legions that ever took place during the Roman Empire.
- The Usurper Magnentius took the Legions from Britannia and the Rhine, and attacked an Eastern Roman Army under Constantius II.
- Magnentius lost two thirds of his army and Constantius II lost half, a total of 50,000 men.

- Located at Tvrda, Osijek.
- The museum holds a collection of Roman stone monuments and other Roman artefacts excavated from fort of Mursa.
