- The Porta del Populo, originally called the Porta Flaminia, is a Roman Gate in the Aurelian Walls in Rome.
- It is located on the north side of the Piazza del Popolo and is where the Via Flaminia to Rimini started from.
Piazza del Popolo
- This famous pedestrian square lies in front of the Porta del Populo.
- Looking south from the Piazza is a view of a junction flanked by twin churches, which is the starting point of three straight streets leading into three separate areas of Rome.
- This was the first view of Rome that travellers arriving from the north would see.
Flaminio Obelisk
- Located in the centre of the square, it is one of 13 Obelisks of Ancient Rome.
