Sacred Area of St. Omobono

  • The Sanctuary of St. Omobono was excavated in 1937 and although consisting mostly of rubble, is one of the oldest sites in Ancient Rome. The excavated remains are on view in the Capitoline Museums.
  • Found near the Vico Jugario, were the foundations of the Temple of Fortuna and the Temple of Mater Matuta both built in the sixth century BCE and subsequently rebuilt three times.
