Welwyn Roman Baths

  • Welwyn Roman Baths formed part of the Dicket Mead Roman Villa (c.250 CE), now buried under Junction 6 of the A1(M) Motorway.
  • A steel vault was built over the Baths during the motorway construction and they now lie 30 feet (9m) below it. Visits can be arranged through the Mill Green Museum in Hatfield.

    • Located at Mill Green Museum & Working Mill, Bush Hall Lane, Hatfield, AL9 5PD.
    • Visits to the Baths must be booked in advance through the Mill Green Museum which also holds Artefacts excavated from the Dicket Mead Roman Villa.
    • The Welwyn Roman Baths are located at the Welwyn Bypass Road, Welwyn, AL6 9FG.
