- Welwyn Roman Baths formed part of the Dicket Mead Roman Villa (c.250 CE), now buried under Junction 6 of the A1(M) Motorway.
- A steel vault was built over the Baths during the motorway construction and they now lie 30 feet (9m) below it. Visits can be arranged through the Mill Green Museum in Hatfield.
Description
- The visible remains consist of the Hypocaust, Tepidarium, Caldarium and Frigidarium. The Baths were made from a type of Roman Concrete called Opus Signinum.
