Weymouth

• Weymouth is a port and seaside town located in the County of Dorset in the South West Region of England.
• The town was founded by the Saxons in the 10th century CE. A Roman Road appears to have run from Dorchester through Weymouth to the Isle of Portland.

Isle of Portland

• Portland, also known as Isle of Portland, lies south of Weymouth in Dorset. It is possibly either Ictis or Mictis in the Tin Islands of the Ancient Tin Trade.
• Portland is thought to have been called Vindelis by the Romans. Portland Stone has been quarried on the Island since the Romans.
